Advantages of the Self-Directed IRA

Picture
A self-directed IRA is legally no different from any other IRA. It simply states that you choose your IRA investments. Your due diligence should lead you to verify that it's legal to invest your IRA in first and second mortgages by going to www.IRS.gov and searching for Publication 590. Once there, simply look up “prohibited transactions” in the table of contents.

Private Citizens have always been able to buy real estate and mortgages (as long as it is not your property or mortgage) within your IRA since IRA's were created over 30 years ago. However, many financial professionals limit investment choices to funds and products for which they'll earn a commission.

The benefits of self-directing your IRA…

When you self-direct your IRA into Private Mortgages you have the ability to maximize your returns while at the same time you can better manage your risk.  Think about the control you could have if only you could predict a steady 12% return on your mutual fund investments in your 401K/IRA year after year.  Now that would give you some much needed reassurance about your retirement.  The ability to forecast your projected retirement income is not possible in the stock market.  World events can and have caused the typical company directed 401K to become a 201K. IRA's have been cut in half and people close to retirement and been forced to postpone their dream of relaxation indefinately.  For example, the stock market could take a nose dive for any reason such as terrorist attack, a dot com crash, oil price spikes, a real estate bubble, hyper inflation (coming soon)…most people have lost money suddenly in their IRA/401K accounts. However, by investing your retirement in Private Mortgages you are more in control to protect your investment from sudden, unforeseen happenings. When you become a Private Mortgage Investor with Ratcliff Asset Management, LLC you have the ability to evaluate each opportunity before you invest. Self-directing your IRA puts you in the driver seat (not the psychology of the markets) and gives you the ability to choose safer investments, while maximizing your returns.
